Great Irish Fair
September 26-27, 2015

The 34th Annual Great Irish Fair was held in Coney Island on Saturday & Sunday September 26th & 27th. Many of our NYPD Emeralds with family and friends enjoyed the festivities, which featured terrific music, dance, food as well as many things Irish. Two of our NYPD Emerald Society Irishman-of-the Year were among those recognized for their outstanding accomplishments. Our Chaplain Emeritus Monsignor Martin Geraghty of St. Robert Bellarmine RC Church received the Father Mychal Judge Memorial Award. While our current 2015 Irishman-of-the-Year Chief Kevin Ward, the Chief-of-Staff to Commissioner William Bratton, received the PO Edward Byrne Memorial Award. Both men brought great honor to our Society as well as to the NYPD as they accepted their well-deserved awards. On Sunday afternoon our NYPD Pipes & Drums put on an impressive performance. All eyes at the Fair were drawn to center stage as our kilted men in blue marched in. Once again they were hailed with heartfelt applause, they certainly can stir the crowd. It was a great weekend for the Irish in NYC and even more special if you were an NYPD Emerald!
